Family Reunification Loans
Family separation in situations of displacement and upon fleeing are common. Many families become separated on their journeys, in reception centres, and before they flee. This can have a devastating psychological, economic and social impact. Under law, once you receive asylum in the UK you are legally entitled to reunify your spouse and/or any children under 18. Once a family reunification visa is issued there is often a very narrow timeframe within which the family are permitted to travel (typically between 28 and 90 days of the visa being issued). RefuAid therefore began lending to cover the travel costs associated with family reunification in 2019, supporting families to reunite as safely and quickly as possible. Loan are interest-free and character-based, allowing us to support those who are largely excluded from mainstream finance.
