Celebrating the RefuAid Language Programme and Exciting Changes Ahead

Since its launch, the RefuAid Language Programme has been a transformative gateway for thousands of people seeking to rebuild their lives in the UK. Together with our incredible partners—including British Council-accredited schools, universities, and exam providers—we’ve helped individuals achieve the English language qualifications they need for higher education and professional re-accreditation. Over 2,200 people have benefited, with many going on to fulfil their career aspirations and make lasting contributions to their communities.

Now, we’re entering an exciting new chapter as our Language Programme transitions to Breaking Barriers, a leader in refugee employment support. This move will allow the programme to scale nationally, ensuring even more people can access the life-changing opportunities it provides.

What Does This Mean?

  • Temporary Pause on Enrolments: While we work on transferring and integrating the programme, new applications are currently on hold.

  • Your Support Team Remains: All our amazing language caseworkers are joining Breaking Barriers, ensuring continuity for existing and future students.

  • Trusted School Partners: The partnerships we’ve built with schools and providers across the UK will continue to thrive under Breaking Barriers.

We are thrilled to share that enrolments will reopen via Breaking Barriers in January 2025, ready to welcome a new wave of students.

This transition marks a significant milestone for both RefuAid and Breaking Barriers. Together, we can scale the programme, ensuring support reaches even more people in need across the UK. RefuAid will continue to focus on expanding our Equal Access Loan Scheme, while Breaking Barriers integrates the Language Programme into its suite of services, creating a seamless pathway from learning to employment.
